After a while, playing tournament poker can be a little bit repetitive. If you are playing tournaments night after night, other poker players can start to get bored with the game, and that can put your home poker game in jeopardy. One way to spice up your home poker game is to play a cash game, another is to play for props, and another is to offer bonuses during your poker tournament. Bonuses offer some variety and can give even losing players a way to win something during the night. Here are some different poker bonuses that you can offer at your poker home game.
- High Hand Bonus – The best hand, a full house or better gets the bonus. You can use any 5 cards out of your 2 hole cards or the 5 board cards. The hand does not have to go to the river.
- Bad Beat Bonus – Best hand that loses gets the payout. The losing hand must be a flush or better beaten by a full house or better.
- Knockout Bounties – Every poker player gets a bounty chip when they buy in. When you go all in, you put in one of your bounty chips. Whomever knocks you out takes you bounty chip, but you keep the bounty chips you collected from players you knocked out. If you rebuy, you get another bounty chip. At the end of the night you turn in the chips for $x/chip
- Aces Cracked – First player to get their pocket aces cracked gets the bonus.
- Whack-A-Mole Bonus – Sort of like the knockout bonus, except everyone draws a secret chip at the beginning of the night. The catch is that one player draws a different colored chip than all the rest. As each person gets knocked out, they reveal their chip. Whom ever knocks out the mole gets the bonus. If the mole wins at the end of the night, then they get the bonus.
